The Southeast Missouri Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition is a non-profit organization formed in 2000 to combat the growing problem of youth substance abuse in our community. The Coalition has received funding from the Missouri Division of Alcohol And Drug Abuse, and is fighting the war on substance abuse among our youth with the support of many community organizations including the Community Caring Council, Southeast Regional Support Center, local law enforcement agencies, United Way of Southeast Missouri, Southeast Missouri State University and local schools. The Coalition has successfully promoted and supported several programs and publications into our community, such as Al's Pals and the Community Plan (addressing alcohol and drug abuse in the community), helping both children and parents realize the dangers of underage drinking and the negative effects it can have on a young person's life. The Coalition is a member of the Missouri Youth Adult Alliance, as well as the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America.
